Teaching at Cambridge differs from teaching at nearly any other university, even in the UK. The CS undergraduate course, called the Computer Science Tripos, is a three-year or a four-year course.
The first three years are called Part 1A, Part 1B, and Part II. Students have no choice in their courses for the first two years and take only CS and Maths courses during this time. Students who get a ‘first’ in their Part II are eligible to enter Part III, which is discussed here.
Terms Teaching is done during one of three terms: Michaelmas, which runs 8 weeks from early October to early December; Lent, which runs 8 weeks from mid-January to mid-March; and Easter, which runs 4 weeks from mid-April to mid-May. Term dates can be found here.
