Some fellows take on the college office of a Director of Studies, or DoS. They are responsible for the admission and academic progress of a certain number of undergraduates in their area of study. This means that they either provide supervisions or find suitable supervisors. They also meet with their students regularly, at least twice a term, and sometimes more frequently.

Directors of studies are provided a salary by their college.
